Obituary for Allen Quinn May

Allen Quinn "Tinker" May, passed away on September 6, 2022 in Conroe, Texas. He was born on January 20, 1948, at Allen Memorial Hospital, in Bonham, Texas.

In Bonham Junior High and High School, Allen worked at a family owned mattress factory, McKelva-Morris Mattress Factory along with his brother Buddy May. In college, he worked as a meat cutter and was the only college student to eat steak on a regular basis. After college, Allen briefly managed a Kentucky Fried Chicken but went back to Bonham and the Mattress Factory to be closer to his family and friends

In 1976, Allen married, Doris Dianne Ashford. In 1977 they moved to Mt. Pleasant, TX. Allen became the Titus County Civic Center Manager 1987 when they moved to New Caney, Texas. In 1988, he went to work as a Texas Department of Criminal Justice correctional officer at the Estelle Unit's Regional Medical Facility; retiring after twenty years. Allen was very proud to be a correctional officer.

Allen loved his church, The Dallas Cowboys, watching for sales at grocery stores, reading/watching Who Done It,  Agatha Christy, Sherlock Holmes, NCIS, Bones, and such. And his FAMILY! And steak! He also loved the old classic Rock and Roll music.  And of course, Allen liked his morning and evening walks in the neighborhood, and loved his yard and flowers.  Most of all, Allen loved life and the adventures it brought.

Allen was very loyal to his family and friends. He had begun to volunteer at his church, The Woodlands Christian Church. He would go in to set up for Sunday service and assist the preschool with his handyman talents. Allen also loved his Saturday morning 7:30 AM Bible study men's group. He assigned Doris to get him up.
