BARBARA JEANNE MOORE MAXEY

Instructions for living a life: / Pay attention. / Be astonished. / Tell about it. ~ "Sometimes" by Mary Oliver

In the early morning hours of December 31, 2020, Barbara Jeanne Moore Maxey peacefully transitioned into Spirit. Her last days were comfortable ones with her husband and children close at hand.

Barbara was born in Houston, Texas, on May 21, 1933, to Willie Rebecca Coyle and William Harry Moore. She had four siblings.

Reading was one of Barbara's passions, with favorite topics including English history, poetry, psychology, and spirituality. She adored animals, especially her beloved pet cats and dogs.

In 1954, Barbara graduated from Kilgore College with a degree in elementary education and was a member of the school's precision dance team, the Kilgore Rangerettes. She was fond of the memories and friendships she made while at Kilgore College.

After college, Barbara returned to Houston and, on November 26, 1954, married the love of her life, Jefferson Herbert Maxey, Jr. They were nearly inseparable for the next sixty-six years and had two children, Robert Davis Maxey and Michelle Jeanne Maxey Ramos.

Barbara later obtained a degree in finance from the University of Houston and worked in the banking industry.

The family would like to thank all of her caregivers at the St. Dominic Village Nursing Center for the exceptional love and attention Barbara received the last several years.

Due to current restrictions, a private funeral service attended by immediate family members was held on January 7, 2021, in Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church's columbarium, where Barbara's remains are inurned.

For those wishing to provide a remembrance of Barbara, the family requests contributions in her memory to St. Dominic Village at https://stdominicvillage.org/donate (https://stdominicvillage.org/donate)”
