Benjamin Sandoval Gil, 82 of Houston, TX, went to rest in heavenly eternal peace, May 25, 2020.

He was born in Cartagena, Colombia, August 21, 1937 to Benjamin Sandoval and Laura Gil. He attended high school at Colegio San Bartolomé in Bogotá, Colombia and graduated from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He was married to Soledad (“Solita”) Bahamón on May 11, 1963.

Benjamin had an intellectual mind, loving heart and generous disposition. He enjoyed the finer things in life but none more than being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, sibling and friend. His career spanned five decades as a civil engineer and project executive with Raymond International, Morrison-Knudsen and management consultant in multiple locations throughout the Americas and the Caribbean.

He attended St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Houston.

Benjamin is survived by his wife, Solita Bahamón de Sandoval and their two sons: Phil Sandoval (Elizabeth) of Birmingham, AL and Andrés Sandoval of Houston, TX. He is also survived by three grandchildren: John Philip Sandoval (Cailyn), Caroline Isabel Sandoval and Grace Victoria Sandoval of Birmingham, AL; and Benjamin’s younger brother Germán Sandoval of Bogotá, Colombia.

A private family memorial mass will take place on Friday, June 12 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, followed by inurnment at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Oh Phil, I’m so sad to see this. I have so many fond memories of him during our childhood years and every time I visited. The last time I was in Houston and visited your parents and your brother, JP and I spent the majority of the time chatting with us while my Mom and yours caught up. I learned more about the oil industry and Venezuela in that afternoon. He caught us up on his career from the Raymond International days to when he retired. What a beautiful mind your Dad had. I will cherish in my heart the memories until the day we all meet again in the after life.
