Obituary for George Alonzo

George Alonzo was born on August 22, 1964, in El Paso, Texas to Edmundo & Gloria Alonzo. George grew up in the Ysleta area, he attended Ysleta High School and graduated in 1982. After high school, George also graduated from Western Technical School and El Paso Community College. In 2002, George and his family moved to Houston, Texas seeking a kidney transplant. God Blessed him with a kidney and a pancreas on September 23, 2003. Unfortunately, the pancreas did not survive but his new kidney was still going strong until his passing. George also survived a heart attack and a stroke in 2002. George was a fighter and never allowed his medical issues to overpower him. He was a man of faith and always knew God was helping and healing him along the way. For the last 15 years, George proudly worked for the City of Houston Public Works Department Permitting Center. He was devoted to his wife Rosie and children Alex and Andrea. He loved to try new foods, travel and spend time with his family. George was a member of the Archdiocese Galveston-Houston and attended both Saint Bartholomew and Saint Cecilia Catholic Churches. Everyone who knew George knew he was a hard-core fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

On March 5, 2022, George passed away in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Rosaura (Rosie) Alonzo, his son Alex Alonzo and daughter Andrea Alonzo. George is also survived by his mother, Gloria Alonzo, brothers Richard Alonzo (Connie), Edmundo Alonzo Jr. (Patricia), Jaime Alonzo (Cathy), Gilbert Alonzo and sister Yvette Romero (Juan). He is also survived by his brother-in-law Orlando Perez, sister-in-law Belinda Stockwell (Joel), mother-in-law Frances Perez and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. George will be remembered as always having a huge smile on his face regardless of how he felt. He was a man that truly loved God, family, friends and his dogs wholeheartedly.
