Obituary for Inez "Pat" Snedecor Mize

Inez “Pat” Snedecor Mize passed peacefully from this world on November 10, 2022.

Inez was born on a farm in Needville, Texas on Dec. 12, 1926, welcomed by her parents Tom and Sammie Snedecor. She grew up in the Texas countryside, and at 17 moved to Houston. There she met Davis Doyle Mize. They gave each other a smile with a future in it, raising five daughters and a son.

Inez was beautiful inside and out: thoughtful, creative, always up for adventure and full of fun. She never met a stranger. Inez loved people and the world deeply, and they loved her back. She was the light of our lives, and she will be forever missed.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Davis Doyle Mize; beloved grandson, Todd Martin; her parents; brothers, George and Boliver Snedecor,; and her sister, Bertie McAnally. She leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, Tarver, Lester, Dean and Vance Snedecor and her sister Sammie Ottmer and their spouses; her daughters, Cassy (Paul) Martin, Penny (Dennis) Murphree, Debbie (Mike) Hedrick, Wendy Richards, Robin (Ted Jacobson) Mize, and her son Dodd (Denise) Mize.

Inez is also survived by her fifteen grandchildren, Lexi (Ian Prikryl) Martin, Christy Martin, Patrick (Stacy) Murphree, Meg (Martha) Murphree, Stephen Alexander (Alex) Hedrick, Christopher Hedrick, Claire (Joel) Douthit, Spencer Richards, William Richards, Austin Jacobson, Sam Jacobson, Andrew (Kati) Mize, Sarah (J.D.) Holder, and Mitchell (Romina) Mize; nine great-grandchildren, Cate Inez Prikryl, Trace Murphree, George Murphree, Zeni Vivas, Macy Mize, Nina Holder, Eloise Holder, Quinn Inez Hedrick, Davis Douthit, Annie Douthit, and a host of other family members and dear friends.

We are so very grateful to Jovy Pina, and Tina Pinson for their love and care of our mom during this last year. You were a blessing to her and to us.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10: 30 am, on Saturday, November 19th, in the Chapel of St., Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Rd., in Houston.
