Obituary for Laney Leon Landrum

Laney Leon  Landrum
LANEY LEON LANDRUM went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 30, 2018 following a long illness. He was born on November 14, 1934 in Norphlet, Arkansas to James Richard Landrum and Anna Vada Landrum.

The family moved to Humble, Texas soon after Leon was born. Leon graduated from Humble High School where he served as the Senior Class President and Head Cheerleader. He was also voted “Mr. Charles Bender.” Leon served in the Army as an airplane mechanic and achieved the rank of Sergeant. After active duty, Leon also served in the Army National Guard of Texas.

He worked for over forty years in the lighting production and oilfield industries. Following retirement, Leon created his own lighting fixture company known as Wires, Etc. He continued to work well into his 80’s until he became ill.

Leon was a loyal member of First Methodist Houston where he served as an usher at the West Campus for many years. Leon was well known for his sense of humor, his love of God, animals, family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Frances Gordon Landrum; daughters, Susie Horr, husband Jim and son, 1stLt Cody Horr USMC and wife, Hannah Horr; Jennifer DiMichele and husband Jimmy; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Cornerstone Hospital for their exceptional and loving care of him during his illness.
A visitation is scheduled in the Hinson Chapel of First Methodist Houston West Campus on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 6-8 pm followed by a graveside service on Tuesday, September 4 at 10 am, Rosewood Memorial Park, 2602 Old Humble Road, Humble, Texas 77396. A memorial service will be held in the Worship Center of First Methodist Houston West Campus on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10 am to celebrate his life. A reception will follow in the Stansbury Building. Arrangements are under the care of A Sacred Choice Funeral Home.
