Margaret Goo Scroggins, 91, of Houston, TX passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at her home in Houston, Texas.

She was born June 23, 1931, in Hilo, Hawaii to Afong Goo and Hattie Kala-Goo. She was the twelfth of thirteen children.

Margaret attended and graduated from Hilo High School in 1949. Early in life, Margaret worked at the pineapple cannery, until she moved to New York City and worked in accounting. Here she discovered her love for the Rockettes - she truly enjoyed watching the Rockettes perform at Rockefeller Center - but more importantly, Margaret met the love of her life, Euelle.

She later moved to San Francisco for a brief time before she married Euelle “Pete” Dixon Scroggins on September 7, 1960. Together they moved to Houston, TX to start their family. Margaret and Pete were married for 51 years, before his death in 2011.

Margaret was a devout Catholic and taught her children to love and to care for everyone, especially the elderly. She spent many years caring for the elderly in her neighborhood.

Margaret loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and welcoming everyone into her home, especially during the holidays. She loved to go on vacation with her family to Hawaii and Vegas.

She was an avid gardener who loved flowers of all varieties, but her favorites were hydrangeas, lilies and orchids. She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and she loved her fur babies.

Margaret enjoyed the music of Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby and especially Elvis. She loved chocolate a lot, and “See’s Candies” were her favorite. She was a football fanatic and she enjoyed painting by numbers. She was a breast cancer survivor.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Suzie Leinani Scroggins Rightmire & husband, Glenn of Lufkin, TX;
