Obituary for Rita Diane Cavnar

Mrs. Rita Diane Peterman Cavnar, age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 9:29 PM at her home in Cypress, TX, surrounded by her loving family.
Diane was born on February 13, 1940, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, to Forrest Udell Peterman and Hazel Elmira Russell Peterman.

Diane attended Cy-Fair High School and was a lifelong homemaker. Diane enjoyed singing, listening to classic country and country gospel music. She played the guitar and organ and aspired to learn the steel guitar. As a Teenager, Diane’s love of performing at local venues in the late 1950’s provided her the opportunity to record a song and cut a record. She even once met Elvis Presley on the same night in 1956 that they both performed at the City Auditorium in downtown Houston. Diane loved to sew and tackle challenging jigsaw puzzles. She also loved to go antique shopping at the Antique Mall in Spring, TX, and enjoyed perusing the aisles of the Hobby Lobby stores in Cypress and Tomball. More than anything, Diane adored her family and spending time with them all.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate of 52 years, Kenneth Cavnar as well as her parents, Forrest “Pete” Peterman, and Hazel Russell Peterman. She is survived by her children, Susan Crosby, Rodger Cavnar and wife Marilyn, Edward Cavnar and wife Kandi, and Scott Cavnar and wife Michelle. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Tamara Thornton-Jenkins (David), Kristi Griffin (Joel), Justin Cavnar, Bradley Cavnar (Jessica), Cody Crosby, Ashley Crawford (John), Kyle Cavnar (Yvonne), Cameron Cavnar (Deny), and Katie Cavnar; 10 great grandchildren, Kaylee Thornton, Chloe Thornton, Kaeden Cavnar, Lauren Crawford, Conner Jenkins, Reagan Griffin, Harry Griffin, Jesslyn Crosby, Clayton Cavnar, and Nora Cavnar; by her only sibling, brother Rick Peterman and wife Susan; and her niece, Angi Laird and her husband Jason and their children, Hannah, Courtney & Jake and Niece, Ashley Peterman.
