Obituary for Sonia Leticia Trujillo

Sonia L. Trujillo, age 56, passed away peacefully in Houston Methodist hospital, surrounded by her loving family on December 03, 2022.

Born on January 12, 1966, in Coatepeque, Guatemala, daughter of Maria Elodia De Leon Mazariegos and Vidal Trujillo.

Sonia came to the United States at the age of 17 crossing tumultuous deserts and facing immeasurable dangers as she searched for a brighter future. It was in the heart of California where she learned English, found true love in Jesus Christ, and had her first daughter, Sylvia. She later moved to Houston, Texas where she established herself as a nanny and caregiver and had two more daughters, Sarah, and Rachel.

In her spare time, Sonia loved to garden and continuously work on home improvement projects. From making the garden look like a luscious paradise or climbing 20-foot ladders to paint the top of her house there was nothing she did not know how to do.

Many in the family will remember her through her extravagant parties, elegant style, and resilient attitude. Anyone who ever crossed paths with her would tell you that she was wise beyond her years and had a presence of gentleness and peace. Always offering warm hospitality, never refusing a visitor, and being the overall life of the party.

Affectionately known as Letty, she is survived by her daughters, Rachel Cruz, Sarah Cruz, and Sylvia T. Torres and her daughters Sophia A. Huff and Hailey A. Huff; her brothers, Jose Trujillo, and Guillermo Trujillo; her mother, Maria Elodia De Leon Mazariegos; her nieces and nephews, Sharon M. Carr; Darling S. Trujillo; Ricky V. Trujillo; Ricky Trujillo; Lisamarie Moran, Rodrigo Trujillo, Vidal Trujillo; Ana M. Taylor; and Maria J. Zavala. Sonia is also survived by the father of her two youngest children Jorge J. Cruz and predeceased by her older brother Rene O. Trujillo.

The family would like to honor and thank William H. Lane and his family for their generosity through the years as well as Ana Marleny Rojas for her many years of friendship, love, and dedication to their mother.
