Obituary for Suzanne Doumit Rohrig (Doumit)

Suzanne Rohrig, 64, of Sugar Land, Texas was born on November 20, 1955, in New Iberia, Louisiana and passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Kindred Hospital, in Sugar Land, Texas due to complications from rheumatoid arthritis.

Funeral Mass for Suzanne Rohrig will be at 10 am on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Boulevard, Sugar Land, TX 77479. Reception to follow in the parish hall.

After becoming physically disabled in her 30s, Suzanne turned her attention to strengthening her mind by attending The University of St. Thomas and graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English. She then spent her years working for God and the Church which included being a champion for the homeless through her work at St. Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church and spreading her faith through roles in Eucharistic Ministry, Pastoral Care and the Women at the Well. Suzanne loved her family and her many friends. She was always the first to give a stranger a smile or offer words of encouragement. Many would say that to Suzanne, there were no strangers, simply her newest friends. She brought laughter and vibrancy into everyone’s life. Suzanne was a true beacon of God’s light and if you look to the sky you will probably see her shining brightly in the newest stars in the Heavens.
Suzanne was the beloved mother of Michael “Mike” (Janet) and James “Jimmy”; grandmother of Peyton, Marcus and Isabelle; sister of Melanie “Mel” Blackburn (Briggs), Joseph Doumit, Emile Doumit (Kathy), and Tricia Segura (Daymon). She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Doumit (Carolyn) and Corinne Addison (John); and her brother, Stephen Doumit.

In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Arthritis Foundation, arthritis.org, or a charity of your choice that focuses on helping the homeless would be greatly appreciated.
