Obituary for Timothy Hightower

Timothy Ray Hightower (Tim), 60, passed away on April 17, 2022, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones at home in Houston, Texas. Tim is survived by his wife, Susan Hightower; children, Heather (David) Keenan, Emma, and Anders Hightower; sisters, Glenda (Jim) Barker, Janice Russo, and Sharon (Jerry) Carleo; nephews Michael (Toni) Russo, Clint (Sarah) Hightower, Derek, and Ryan Carleo; nieces Natalie (John) Stewart, Lisa Normand, and Stacey Russo; his business partner, Ivan Capellan; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. He was predeceased by his father Robert Hightower; his mother and stepfather Louise and Victor Tamulis; and brothers Jimmy, and Robert Hightower.

Tim was born and raised in Houston, Texas. After graduating Milby High School, Tim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for six years during which time he earned his bachelor’s degree. He loved telling stories about his world travels during his service. Tim returned to Houston after discharge from the USAF where he worked full-time in the insurance field while pursuing his law degree from South Texas College of Law. After graduating in 1995, he practiced law for several years with two great firms before starting his own law practice in 2011-a crowning accomplishment. Tim had a passion for airplanes and worked tirelessly to earn his pilot’s license. He owned and piloted several single engine planes over the years. Tim also enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, bicycling, attending sporting events, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying the companionship of his dogs.

Tim’s memorial service will be held at ChristChurch Presbyterian Church, 5001 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire, Texas, 77401, on Friday, April 22 at 1pm. There will be a casual reception after the service.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Houston Methodist who cared for Tim and his friends, family, mentors, and colleagues that spent time with him over the two last years. The love and support meant the world to him.
