Obituary for Walther Majluf Bazo

Walther Majluf Bazo, age 81, passed away in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. He was surrounded by family in his final moments.

Born on May 28, 1940, in Lima, Peru, Walther was raised by his mother Olga Bazo Davila and beloved grandparents. He wed Maria Velarde Martinez in 1971 and was especially proud of their loving 50-year marriage and the beautiful family they raised together. Determined to give his children and grandchildren better opportunities than he ever had, Walther emigrated to the United States in 1996. As a skilled industrial worker and dedicated husband and father, he built a thriving new life in America for his entire family and set a strong foundation for future generations to achieve their dreams.

An avid futból fan who watched with excitement as the Peru national team made the World Cup in 2021, Walther was also an animal-lover who enjoyed caring for his pets as treasured members of the family. He truly wanted the best for everyone he encountered and always treated people and animals alike with kindness, warmth and respect. Motivated by sincere generosity and the opportunity to give the gift of life to others in need, he became a tissue donor upon his passing.

Walther is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Elena; a son, Walther Omar Majluf Velarde; and two daughters, Maria Elena Majluf Velarde and spouse Jorge Martinez, and Julia Majluf Gaffney and spouse Christopher Gaffney. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of grandchildren – Milagros Majluf Martinez, Nicole Martinez Majluf, Gianella Majluf Martinez, Jeshael Majluf Martinez and Ayllin Martinez Majluf – and his siblings, Alberto D’Bazo, Danilo Mario Davila Bazo and Edmundo Diego Davila Bazo. Walther was predeceased by his parents and sister, Rosita Davila Bazo.
