Willie Ray Torres was called home on February 23,2022.Just 3.5 short months after losing his wife of 48 years. He was surrounded by his devoted daughters and son.Born on March 19,1952 to Gloria Flores Torres and Guillermo Torres in Houston,Texas. He was the oldest of 3 brothers and had 1 older sister.

Willie Ray was a soldier by blood just like his father. He joined the Marines at a young age of 18 years old.Served in the Vietnam War from 1970-1974 with an honorable discharge. He was a dedicated Marine, husband and father. He graduated high school and went on to college majoring in Criminal Justice. He worked for the Department of Defense and was also a Houston Police Officer. He served his country well joining the Air Force soon after and worked as military police officer until he retired from working for the government of our United States.

Willie Ray had many talents. He was a “Jack of all trades” one might say.He liked working on old cars and restoring them.He fixed things. He was a great dad that exposed his family to this nation by traveling with them as he worked. He took them out camping and to the lakes tubing. He’d often spend weekend summer nights at Houston’s Miller Outdoor Theatre attending concerts with his kids and wife.He had a great sense of humor and knew how to joke around a lot!Willie dressed smooth, he liked to be slick and clean and knew fashion for men.Stacy Adams were some of his favorite shoes. He enjoyed wearing hats of all kinds too.He most certainly passed down his fashion sense to his grandkids.

Willie Ray liked to be called “Ray”... or “Dad” would suffice. He enjoyed going out to eat with his wife often. He enjoyed seeing his grandkids and visiting them spontaneously with his wife.He was well known in his neighborhood and amongst those who loved him.He was also a prankster... loved it!He liked listening to the oldies and loved car drives.Long car rides were his thing. He set an example of tolerance, perseverance, service, courage and strength. He taught his children that they could do anything they set their mind to.He taught them to be brave and to stand up for themselves. He did his best at loving them and they loved him back. There was never a dull moment when he was around.

Willie Ray is predeceased by his parents Gloria and Guillermo, his younger brother Frank and his loving, loyal wife Maria Torres. He is survived by his oldest and only son Michael Ray Torres, oldest daughter Rae Yvette Torres and youngest daughter Tiffany Janae(Torres)Zambrana, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren who all reside in Houston, Texas.
