Darlene Ruth Rumphol Sauer was born near Milwaukee, WI, on
October 2, 1948. She stepped into the presence of the Lord in Houston,
TX, on December 29, 2018.
In 1966, she graduated from Arrowhead High School in Hartland, WI.
A highlight of her high school years was a Trip to the Cherry Blossom
Festival in Washington, DC, with the marching band. She was in the
school orchestra as well as National Honor Society. Her education
continued by attending Spencerian College, a secretarial school, where
she took the Executive Secretary course, graduating in 1968 with an AA
degree. She then attended Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA,
graduating in 1970 with a BS degree. Following graduation, she was
employed by the College for about 8 years as a secretary in the
Registrar’s Office, followed by a series of temporary jobs running to
three years. Following a transition to Houston in 1981, she worked for
Texaco for about 20 yrs. After that company was purchased by
Chevron, she worked for a legal collections firm for several years,
retiring when they closed in about 2013. She loved music, both playing
it and listening to it. She played the flute and the piano but could also
play both the organ and piccolo. She played special music for church
and sang in the choir for many years. Additionally, she taught the
Sunday School class for 2s and 3s, for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Florence Rumphol,
and by an infant son, Michael Allen Sauer. She is survived by her
husband, Edward of Houston, Texas, two sons Joel Sauer and Mark
Sauer, both of Houston. She is also survived by two brothers, Steven
Rumphol, of Round Lake Beach, Illinois, and Stanley Rumphol of
Rockmount, Georgia. She is also survived by a variety of nieces and
nephews and their children.
The burial service took place at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Houston, on
January 18, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in her name to
Faith Baptist Bible College an Seminary in Ankeny, Iowa.
